NEW – Elderly & Homebound Ministry

Elderly and Homebound Ministry

Purpose:

The Elderly and Homebound Ministry provides a social connection between the parish and the one in need. This ministry, through volunteer effort, contacts parish members who reside in residences, nursing facilities, and other home situations. Ministry volunteers offer a listening ear and a comforting presence to those who are ill or homebound.  The goal is to offer parishioners an encounter with one another to experience God’s goodness and to continue the connection to St Mary Parish.

What is the scope of the Ministry?

Through home visits, reassuring phone calls, sending cards and bulletins on a regular basis, the parish volunteers will engage the elderly/homebound person through conversation, social, and spiritual support.

Eucharistic Ministers may deliver Holy Eucharist to those who ask. This is an opportunity to make God’s presence immediate and real to the homebound parishioner through prayer and the reception of Communion.

How do I ask to be paired with a Church Member?

Contact the Parish Office and request to be paired with a parishioner, or to receive weekly bulletins. 513-321-1207.

Is Training available for Eucharistic Ministers?

Our St Mary Deacon will provide training for those who are interested in becoming  Eucharistic Ministers.
